What about you, Chrono? I admit I know little of the life you led before this, but... there is little that could prepare anyone for such a series of tragedies.
...honestly, this isn't all that unfamiliar to me. The kind of tense mood, paranoia, bein' led down paths with no explanation. Bein' told to trust people who only offer the bare minimum. Back home, no one actually died, but... there were a lot of close calls. Way too many.
It's... a bit of a long story. Basilio and Fidelio were sent to my village to claim one of our divine relics at their lord's behest. Ordinarily, this would have made us enemies... but it seems that fate had other plans for all of us.
I had gone away to the Dragon Temple to perform a ritual, so I was not there... but it seems that even though they arrived with ill intentions, they saved my brother when he was wounded. And when Fidelio was wounded not long after, my brother arranged for his treatment in turn, allowing them to stay in the village, even though they were outsiders.

...are you alright? You're real resilient, but even this, y'know...

Still, this is quite the escalation. I think that you must be quite strong yourself, to carry on in the face of all of this.

[ rubs his chest, vaguely. ]
What about you, Eupha? I know you an' Mr. Fidelio and Mr. Basilio are from the same place, but that's about it.

... I am a priestess. It has always been my duty to face the troubles of my village, and ease the anxieties of the people.

Perhaps it is... though I do not feel that it is a misfortune. I was always happy to be able to help people in ways that only I could.

How did you meet the others, then?

[ are they ever? ]
I don't mind listening if it's somethin' you're comfy talkin' about.

Good people on a bad mission, huh? Did they ever actually claim the thing they came for?

I returned from the ritual with the divine relic, the Lance of the Dragon God. But my village was attacked by a human...
Those brothers had evacuated the villagers while I was away, and I returned to find everyone safe, thanks to them.
In the end, I decided that while we could not give up the lance, that I would instead go with them to meet their lord, bringing the lance with me.

[ what a weird vocabulary crossover. ]
So, a compromise. That's the lance you have with you here?
no subject
The lance Drakodios... though it is bereft of all of its power for the moment.

How did the meeting with their lord go? Guessin' you weren't an expected factor there.

her expression darkens. ]
I have never hated a person before. But that man...
no subject
[ well "lord stealing artifacts" was a pretty big giveaway. ]
And those two backed you up after?
no subject
But ultimately, yes. I count them both as my dear friends and allies now.

[ it's a softly offered prompt. he's happy to listen, but she doesn't have to elaborate. ]
Sometimes those friendships are the strongest ones.
