[ there's a little knock on the entrance to the tavern kitchens today, followed by a squawk of panic. the pair of sounds originate from chrono, trying to be a little too polite considering the heavy amaz*n box he's got in his arms. seems he tried to hold it up with one while he knocked. ]

Uh, hey! Is it okay to come in?

[ opens the door at the squawk of panic like ??? help. ]

Yeah— ey, hang on, let me—

[ let him grab that box because if chrono falls over he’s gonna feel really bad. aaa. ]

[ wah thankyou bas. he's surprisingly strong! but that's a heavy-ass box for one arm no matter what. ]

[ he'll shuffle in a little awkwardly. there's also a plastic convenience store bag hanging off his elbow. ]

Sorry for comin' over unannounced, but that arrived, an' I was kinda... needing somethin' to do...

I brought all the specific stuff for it since i wasn't sure you guys would have octopus or benishouga or anything. But I wanna see you work a bit first, if there's anything I can help with?

I was makin' some tiramisu. It's been goin' down pretty well so far.

It's pickled ginger. Sometimes an acquired taste, so might be good to try it before I start makin' any.

[ starts unpacking his supplies onto the counter in a neat little corner out of the way, and then almost drops the jar of ginger at that. ]

Ah, eh... tiramisu? What brought that on?

[ well, he's in the misfortune tellers and-- it kinda looks like he's just ignoring the chao trying to get him to come over so it can do his fortune, and is too busy staring at the crystals and tarot cards instead. ]

These things seem kinda complicated -- you're meant to be able to read stuff with these?

[ the chao seems disappointed but. sorry buddy there's stuff to stare at. chrono picks up a deck of tarot cards and starts to flick through them. ]

Guess so. Tarot's somethin' I only know by name.

Yeah, this kind of deck. It follows the story of a traveler, I think? Each of the cards means somethin'. Couldn't tell you what.

so we're chilling. he nods, looking exhausted but the relief and happiness rolls off him in waves. ]

Goin’ from kinda quiet to havin’ them all back at once is a lot, but— it’s a good kind of a lot.

Makin' it through in one piece and makin' the most of the place while I can, I guess. It'll be nice to have a week where we aren't expectin' someone to die.
