[Because Anders has the world's weirdest bedside manner and also Kaworu can usually get what he wants out of him.

He sniffs loudly and leans against Chrono a little.]

Do you like dogs?

[ he'll tip his head down so they're leaning on each other, but cross his arms with a hum of trepidation. ]

Mm, well... it's more dogs don't like me?

I can't imagine someone not liking you. Especially not dogs. They seem to like everyone.

[They're not even offended when he sneezes!]

[ he sighs, a little sadly. ]

I'm more of a cat person. There's two cats at the store where I work, and they really like me. Dogs usually get annoyed with me. Dunno why.

Maybe you just haven't met the right dogs. Just like I hadn't met the right adults before coming here. Just because some of them are bad doesn't mean they all are.

It's not that I think they're bad! They're better than horses, that's for sure. [ awfully specific but alright. ] ...these guys do seem real friendly, though.

Did... you... ride one?

[ makes a face. a very displeased one. ]

No-- well, yeah, but the stupid thing hated me. It just kept biting my hair.

[Just going to laugh at the mental images. And cough because he's congested but this is so funny.]

[ grumbles, but he's not actually that mad about it. and at lease kaworu is laughing. ]

Yeah, yeah. If I never have to deal with another horse I'll be happier in life.

There's been no horses in heaven yet.

Maybe that's the best thing about it.

Pet the dog Chrono.

[Pulling on his arm. Come on. Do it for the itchy angel.]

[ he will be dragged with little resistance. it's not like he doesn't want to or anything!! there's just a little bit of uncertainty as he reaches out

and successfully pets this very friendly corgi. wow ]

[Watches Chrono successfully pet the pup... It's so cute. It cures every disease...

Nah just kidding he's still allergic as fuck to everything.]

the pup is receptive to pets. these are not your regular earth pups who growl at him. fascinating. ]

Okay, you're right. Good dog.

They're so nice to pet. Especially after everything that happened. That's why I couldn't leave.

[And these pups might invite you to tea which is even cuter. He hums thoughtfully. He feels happy but still wrung out from the weekend if he thinks about it too hard.]

Chrono... before, I held your hand. It was warm and I was happy you let me keep you near. Do you think we could... hold hands again?

That's fair. Animals are supposed to be calming. The shop cats are like that for me.

the question catches him a little off-guard. it's much shyer than what he's used to from kaworu, but... that might be a good thing?

in any case, he offers his hand nigh immediately. ]

Yeah, 'course we can. It... makes me happy too, y'know, knowing you trust me.

[peripheries]

[Takes it immediately, twining his fingers firmly with the other boy's. Chrono's hand is still warm and Kaworu squeezes it slightly to just to appreciate that it's there. Then he lets their hands drop so they're resting on his knee.]

Do you miss them? The cats?

[ he doesn't mind at all. while certain actions might fluster him, something as straightforward as a handhold is easy and nice to provide. ]

Mhmm. They're the owner's cats, so we called them the "assistant managers".

Tell me more about the shop.

[Just going to lean his head against Chrono's shoulder, enjoying the closeness.]

[ he'll shift their hands a bit, a slightly more comfortable hold, and lean against kaworu a little back. he's cautious though, given how much smaller kaworu is. ]

You wanna know? Okay... [ hmmm. ] Well, it's just called Card Capital 2. It's where I met my friends for the first time. When I became old enough to have a part-time job, I asked if they'd hire me, and the owner gave me a few trial jobs which I passed. There's cabinets for customers to browse, and I spend a lot of time teaching new players. It's nice.

[peripheries]

Huh. A part time job. So you sell cards and go to school? And teach people to play a game you love?

[That sounds like a nice life. He'd never thought of something like that before. It was too mundane.]

Yeah, basically. After everything that happened, it's all I want to do for a while. It's good to have a routine that makes things easier.

[ he looks pensive for a moment. ]

It lets me be closer to my friends, too. The ones still in Japan.
